WHALE WATCHING
You’re only really whale watching when you’re doing it from above! Enjoy the majestic Southern Right Whales as we fly low-level without disturbing them in their natural habitat. Doing this in a fixed wing aircraft allows you to see more at a more affordable price. The best time of year is June to November, but Hermanus’ Walker Bay has special treats throughout the year - including dolphins, great white sharks and seals. PENINSULA DU CAP
For both tourists and locals, the peninsula aerial scenic tour is a box that simply has to be ticked. Doing this in a fixed wing aircraft allows you to see more at a more affordable price. Taking off from the Air du Cap home base at Cape Winelands airport, we head South over Stellenbosch towards Strand and Somerset West. Breaking West, we do the False Bay crossing, flying low-level (500 feet) above the beach and breakers, taking in the magnificence of False Bay and then climbing over Muizenberg, with Constantia to the right of the aircraft. Look out for seals, sharks and penguins, as you head South, making your way over the multi-coloured beach huts of St James beach, trendy Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and the Simonstown naval base. Get those cameras ready as we prepare for the climax - an orbit above the dramatic Cape Point! Settle into to some snacks and drinks as you enjoy a beautiful coastal cruise, taking in Scarborough, Misty Cliffs and Kommetjie. Noordhoek and Long Beach are next, before the magnificent Chapmans’ Peak, Hout Bay and 12 Apostles mountain range. The Atlantic Seaboard kicks off with Camps Bay, and you are given the option of either flying through the gap between Lions Head and the Table Mountain cable car (orbiting over the City Bowl), or flying North of Lion’s Head, around Sea Point, Green Point and the Cape Town stadium. The V&A Waterfront and Cape Town harbour lead us North and, with Robben Island on our left, we fly over Bloubergstrand, Table View and Big Bay, before heading home to Cape Winelands airport!
